To make a day of it

Château de Vibrac stands in Vibrac (Charente), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

On an island in the Charente river, between Vibrac and Angeac-Charente, stand the ruins of a castle whose overgrown outline can still be seen from the road that crosses the river. What remains is an 18th-century entrance front with three arches, a medieval square tower split in half from top to bottom, along with a chapel, a bridge and outbuildings. The site reflects eight centuries of feudal history, from the earliest recorded homages in the 13th century to its gradual decline into ruin, before a crowdfunding campaign launched in 2020 aimed at its preservation.
