What the French Ministry of Culture records

"Un acte de donation datant de 1403 désigne le château sous le nom de "mote de Villemesle", possédant haute, moyenne et basse justice. Au 16e siècle, la plateforme entourée d'eau comportait, outre le château, des dépendances et des corps de logis. Le château actuel a été construit au milieu du 17e siècle. Au 18e siècle, construction des deux ailes de communs dans l'avant-cour, après la suppression des dépendances installées sur le terre plein permettant le dégagement du château tel qu'il apparait actuellement. Le pavillon nord s'est en partie effondré dans les douves. L'intérieur conserve des décors lambrissés (fin 18e et 19e siècle)."
