To make a day of it

Château de Tailly-l'Arbre-à-Mouches stands in Tailly (Somme), in the Hauts-de-France region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: second quarter of the 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Built in white stone during the 1730s and 1740s by the Mannay de Camps family, the Château de Tailly-l'Arbre-à-Mouches stands out for its steep French-style roofs and restrained classical ornamentation. The house is chiefly known for having been home to the future Marshal Leclerc, who lived there from his marriage in 1925 until his death in 1947. Inside, period woodwork and a nineteenth-century panoramic grisaille wallpaper survive alongside the marshal's furniture and personal belongings, left unchanged since his death. One of the farm's barns houses an exhibition devoted to his campaigns during the Second World War.
