To make a day of it

Château de Wailly stands in Conty (Somme), in the Hauts-de-France region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The château de Wailly stands in the commune of Conty, in the Somme, at the end of an avenue lined with outbuildings and a stone hemicycle now in ruins. What remains of the main building, only a third of the original structure, bears witness to a turbulent history marked by fires, revolutionary destruction and rebuilding. The estate recalls the Hallewyn and then Croÿ families, and a wartime episode in 1944 when British forces set up headquarters there. A private property, the domain is mostly seen from its grounds and surroundings.
