In Fourneaux, in the Loire department, the château de Sarron was long known as Les Forges, a name it kept until a family who lived there for more than three centuries gave it its present one. The current buildings, built around an older core, form an inner courtyard lined with arcades and a colonnaded gallery, set around a square keep flanked by towers. Around the house survive a terrace, a kitchen garden, a pond known as the canal and a lower pond, remnants of an estate that has changed little since the 19th century.
