Château de Sanzay stands in Argentonnay (Deux-Sèvres), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Straddling the historic line between Anjou and Poitou, this 13th century stronghold occupies a once-marshy plot close to Sanzay, within the commune of Argentonnay. Decades of neglect were reversed by restoration efforts begun in the late 1990s, during which cleared moats exposed the remains of five towers that had disappeared over time. Today the site presents an entrance flanked by twin towers, a keep whose chapel preserves a gothic window along with 16th century heraldic paintings, and a guards' lodge paired with an artillery tower.
