Château de Saint-Just stands in La Chapelle-Longueville (Eure), in the Normandie region of France. What the French Ministry of Culture records

La construction du château remonte à la fin du 16e siècle, par Jacques de Croixmare. Au 18e siècle, le parc a été aménagé en jardin à la française, avec la réalisation du circuit d'eau, du potager et de plantations. A la fin du 18e siècle, le château, propriété du duc de Penthièvre, a été transformé en maison de retraite pour ses serviteurs. Il a réalisé d'importantes modifications dans le château et construit en même temps le grand commun, la laiterie, la glacière et une fabrique. Vendu comme bien national en 1793, il a été acquis au début du 19e siècle par le maréchal Suchet ; entre 1817 et 1825 ont été effectués une restauration générale, la mise en place du décor du rez-de-chaussée par l'architecte Lacornée, et la transformation du parc, à l'anglaise, sur les plans de Belguise, jardinier engagé en 1825. En 1885-1886, le domaine a été revendu à la famille de Maistre. La fabrique a été aménagée en atelier de peinture où Henri de Maistre a beaucoup travaillé entre les deux guerres.
