What the French Ministry of Culture records
Le château de Saint-Denis et son domaine sont la propriété de la famille de Bastard depuis le XVIIème siècle. De par une situation très proche de la Garonne, le château primitif était sujet à de fréquentes inondations, ce qui a conduit à le démolir dans les années 1820. Un nouveau château a été construit dans les années 1840, légèrement en retrait dans les terres. Cette construction a été menée par l'architecture bordelais Jean Burguet (1788 1848), peut-être avec l'assistance de son neveu Charles Burguet (1821-1879).
