The château de Roissac stands in Angeac-Champagne, near Cognac, on a site occupied since Gallo-Roman times and later by a medieval manor of the La Rochefoucauld family, now vanished. The present building dates from 1770, built for Joseph de Beauchamp after the earlier structure was torn down. Its rectangular façade is notable for its symmetry, two doors flanked by five rows of windows beneath a mansard-type roof mixing tile and slate. Inside, a salon retains low wood panelling set with painted canvases and a moulded plaster ceiling depicting a man astride a barrel and a woman carrying a basket.
