The château de Querrieu stands in the Somme département, on the foundations of a medieval stronghold once visited by kings François I and Henri IV before it burned in 1636. Rebuilt in brick and stone during the 17th century by the Gaudechart family, it was reworked and raised by a storey in the 1830s and 1840s, giving it its present appearance. The site is chiefly remembered as the headquarters of the British army in 1916, where King George V and Marshal Foch both came. The ground-floor reception rooms, with their panelling and marquetry floors, along with the English-style park, remain open to visitors.
