To make a day of it

Château de Pomarède stands in Moncrabeau (Lot-et-Garonne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Set in the Baïse valley, the château de Pomarède is a large Gascon country estate dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, built around a square courtyard lined with barns, wine stores and stables. The main points of interest are the dovecote tower with its rows of nesting holes, the interior staircase with its wrought iron railing, and the Louis XIII panelling in the dining room. Still inhabited by the Dupré de Pomarède family, the estate retains the feel of a working agricultural domain rather than a formal château.
