To make a day of it

Château de Cassaigne stands in Cassaigne (Gers), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 15th century, 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In the Gers countryside, a few kilometres from Condom, the château de Cassaigne served for five centuries as the residence of the bishops of Condom. Built in the 13th century, its north wing still holds the remains of the original medieval structure, while the façades and staircase were reworked in classical style during the 18th century. The visit today combines the historic building, including its vaulted kitchen, with a working Armagnac cellar.

What to know

  • The château is visited together with its Armagnac cellar, a private property still in operation.
  • The moat and bridge, the staircase, the 18th century dining room and the medieval kitchen are listed as historic monuments.
  • The building is arranged in two wings around a courtyard, the north wing being the oldest part.
  • Opening hours, prices and access conditions are not verified here and should be confirmed before visiting.
