What the French Ministry of Culture records

Ce château, dit de type "gascon", fait partie du système défensif établi de part et d'autre de la frontière anglo-française à la fin du 13e siècle. De plan rectangulaire, il se termine aux extrémités Est et Ouest par deux tours carrées, diagonalement opposées l'une à l'autre, et plus élevées que le corps de logis. Meurtrières et archères ont été remplacées par de vastes croisées. Seul le troisième étage était ajouré au sud par des fenêtres géminées, aux arcatures trilobées soutenues par une colonne médiane. Les autres ouvertures ont été détruites ou aveuglées. A l'intérieur, les divisions ont été modifiées au 19e siècle. Les couronnements anciens ont été détruits.
