Montardy castle stands at Grand-Brassac, in the Dordogne, on the site of a 14th century noble stronghold whose defensive features, keep and battlements, were removed during the Revolution. What remains today is a large residence flanked by two pavilion towers, a terrace marked by a watch turret, and outbuildings including a massive 17th century dovecote. The estate has remained in private hands since it passed to the du Lau d'Allemans family in 1600.
