Château de Louvagny stands in Louvagny (Calvados), in the Normandie region of France. What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le corps le plus ancien du château remonte au 17e siècle (autorisation de construire un château et une chapelle accordée en 1651). Cette partie, comportant l'aile en retour nord terminée par un pavillon carré, a été construite de 1651 à 1664. Le corps en retour, accolé à une tourelle en demi hors-uvre, fut élevé au début du 18e siècle. Les nombreuses bouches à feu qui flanquent l'ensemble rappellent la vocation défensive du lieu. Les douves qui ceinturaient l'ensemble ont été comblées entre 1830 et 1840. Un pont dormant en permettait le franchissement. Un parterre conforme aux canons du 18e siècle, prolonge la façade sud. Dans le parc, un pavillon du 17e siècle pourrait avoir servi de maison de garde. Au 19e siècle, un pont-levis a été ajouté dans la cour d'honneur. La glacière située dans le parc sert, depuis le début du 20e siècle, au captage de la source qui alimentait autrefois les douves.
