Château de Lagrange-Monrepos stands in Nérac (Lot-et-Garonne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century, 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
Near Nérac, on the banks of the Baïse river, the château de Lagrange-Monrepos retains the look of a fortified 16th-century residence, built when the court of Navarre held sway over the region. Six towers surround the main building, including a massive round tower linked to it by a wall pierced with a triangular-pedimented doorway. Inside, a painted monumental fireplace survives along with beamed ceilings decorated with life-size reclining figures. Local tradition holds that Henri I of Albret had it built for his mistress, Marianne Alespée.
