Edifié au 16e siècle et modifié au 18e, le château a conservé son caractère d'origine plus agricole que résidentiel. C'est un exemple très homogène et complet d'habitation ferme bourbonnaise sous l'Ancien Régime. De plan en U, ouvert vers l'ouest, l'édifice est entouré de douves sur ses côtés ouest et sud. Le château comporte un corps de bâtiment rectangulaire encadré de deux ailes en retour. Les ailes servaient autrefois de communs, hormis l'extrémité Est de l'aile nord utilisée comme chapelle. Les douves existent encore au sud et à l'ouest. Au nord, sont situés les bâtiments agricoles.
