To make a day of it

Château de la Foy stands in Mouthiers-sur-Boëme (Charente), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century, 15th century, 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The Château de la Foy stands apart from the village of Mouthiers-sur-Boëme, at the head of a small valley overlooking the Charente countryside. The building combines two distinct periods: a 15th and 16th century section with old arrow slits and a turret, and a 1719 extension housing the drawing room and dining room. It occupies the site of a monastic outpost founded in the late 11th century, of which only scattered traces remain. As private property, it is best viewed from the road rather than visited.
