To make a day of it

Château de Kintzheim stands in Kintzheim (Bas-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 12th century, 13th century, 14th century, 15th century). Adult admission costs 12 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Perched on a rocky spur above the village, the ruins of Kintzheim Castle preserve a circular 13th-century keep along with traces of several centuries of building and destruction. Since 1968 the site has also hosted a bird of prey centre, combining a visit to the medieval remains with flight demonstrations of eagles and other raptors. Near the entrance, a carved protective face can still be seen on a 16th-century artillery tower.
