Set on a terrace overlooking the Saône river at the edge of Gergy, this 17th-century château was built in 1668 for Louis Quarré, a lieutenant general at the Chalon chancellery. An older rustic gate tower, remnant of a fortified farm, still marks the entrance to the estate. The building is private property and cannot be visited inside, but the tree-lined avenue along the plateau gives an open view over the river and, on clear days, toward the Jura and the Alps.
