What the French Ministry of Culture records

Cet édifice a été construit sur les fondations d'un château plus ancien datant du 12e siècle sur le coteau de Montchevreuil, probablement par Guillaume de Mornay ou par son fils, Pierre de Mornay, qui reçut en donation en 1539 de Jean Chenu La Terre de Montchevreuil. Au 17e siècle, des ailes sont ajoutées au château et des écuries construites. L'intérieur est remanié au 19e siècle par Jules de Mornay, marquis de Montchevreuil.
