What the French Ministry of Culture records

Construction du donjon roman au début du 12e siècle. Château construit vers 1120 (s'appuie sur la muraille gallo-romaine du Bas-Empire) , agrandi au 13e siècle, remanié au 15e siècle. Prieuré fondé au 13e siècle par Louis IX ; l'église a disparu ; le logis a été vraisemblablement édifié au début du 15e siècle. Le logis du 18e siècle abrite aujourd'hui le musée de la Vénerie. Prieuré remanié au 19e siècle dans le goût néo-gothique.
