In Dolmayrac, in the Lot-et-Garonne department, the ruins of a 14th-century castle stand at the tip of a rocky spur, at the end of what was once a fortified village. Two square towers remain, once linked by curtain walls that enclosed the medieval settlement. Visitors can still make out a vaulted hall and traces of a staircase set within a round turret. The site is separate from a nearby watchtower, better preserved, which guarded the weakest side of the village facing the plateau.
