What the French Ministry of Culture records

Château bâti en éperon sur la vallée de la Garonne. Il comprend un soubassement ancien pouvant être antérieur au 12e siècle et comprenant le donjon, l'escalier et la salle dite des gardes. En avant, sur la terrasse sud, a été rajouté, au 18e siècle, un ensemble d'appartements sur trois niveaux. Le donjon semble la partie la plus ancienne et a été bâti en deux temps. Dans le comble de l'escalier se trouve un encorbellement qui soutient un chéneau de pierre par l'intermédiaire de corbeaux selon un rythme qui semble indiquer le 12e siècle. Au-dessus, la maçonnerie est moins soignée intérieurement. Au-dessus de cette corniche, sur le toit, apparaissent des arcatures à double rouleau qui pourraient être également du 12e siècle. Il s'agirait d'une surélévation ancienne et d'une première grosse transformation. La salle dite des gardes présente des voûtes du 17e ou début 18e siècle, bâties en brique à l'intérieur d'un gros oeuvre médiéval en pierre, témoignant d'une réinstallation à l'intérieur du vieux château.
