Clermont castle stands in Haute-Savoie, above the village of the same name, on the site of a former comital fortress. Built at the end of the 16th century by a wealthy bishop, Gallois de Regard, it follows lines inspired by the Italian Renaissance, with an inner courtyard lined with arcaded galleries. Visitors find a main building flanked by two pavilions, a monumental gate facing the village, and interiors that have kept their original character.
