Château d'Yvoire stands in Yvoire (Haute-Savoie), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
On the shores of Lake Geneva, in the medieval village of Yvoire, stands a former fortified castle dating back to the early 13th century. The stronghold was built by the lords of Compey, then taken over and reinforced by the counts of Savoy to control this strategic point between the lake's two basins. Of this turbulent history, marked by 16th-century sieges, a massive square keep remains today, restored in the 20th century. The site extends into a botanical garden laid out in the former kitchen garden, now listed as a remarkable garden.
