To make a day of it

Château de Thénières stands in Ballaison (Haute-Savoie), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The Château de Thénières overlooks the village of Ballaison from the edge of Mont de Boisy, with views reaching as far as Lake Geneva. Built in 1863 by the architect Bruger for Ernest de Boigne, on the site of a medieval castle that no longer survives, it was designed in a picturesque style inspired by Scottish architecture, close to Balmoral Castle. Its silhouette combines a massive round tower with several turrets, typical of nineteenth century romantic taste. The building, now housing local public administration offices, is mainly seen from the outside.
