What the French Ministry of Culture records

La seigneurie de Cassaber est mentionnée depuis le 15e siècle. Elle est achetée en 1612 par Zacharie de Laffite, noble protestant, qui fait construire l'édifice actuel, terminé en 1643. Le bâtiment originel en L, composé d'une aile nord et d'une aile Est perpendiculaire à la précédente, a été agrandi à l'est, ultérieurement, d'un nouveau corps de logis puis, au 19e siècle, d'un pavillon abritant les commodités. La majeure partie des ouvertures remonte au 17e siècle, comme la porte sous fronton à boules d'amortissement. A l'intérieur, plusieurs pièces conservent un décor du 17e siècle ou remanié au 18e. Du côté sud, d'importants communs attestent que l'ancienne abbaye laïque dirigeait autrefois un vaste domaine agricole
