In Salies-de-Béarn, the château de Saint-Pé stands on the site of a Gascon fortified house whose oldest walls are thought to date from the late 13th or early 14th century. The present building bears the marks of a major rebuilding carried out around the late 15th or early 16th century, including its pentagonal stair tower and spiral staircase. The façades also show later alterations, particularly a thorough remodelling at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
