Château de Bellocq stands in Bellocq (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 13th century, 14th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
What the French Ministry of Culture records
Le château existait dès la fin du 13e siècle. Des modifications ont été apportées à ses défenses par Gaston Fébus. Il a été partiellement démantelé en 1622. Son plan dessine un quadrilatère irrégulier flanqué de sept tours. Au milieu du mur sud s'ouvre une porte percée dans une tour carrée dont l'étage inférieur, servant de passage, est voûté d'ogives. Ce portau est commandé par la tour d'angle sud-ouest. La même disposition est répétée au nord où une poterne est ouverte dans une autre tour carrée, elle-même dominée par une tour ronde. Vers l'ouest, la courtine est flanquée de deux tours. A l'est se trouvent les vestiges d'un corps de logis. La septième tour a disparu en 1740. Aucun reste de donjon. Sur trois faces subsiste une courtine découronnée avec chemin de ronde sur encorbellement intérieur.
