Château de Saint-Auvent stands in Saint-Auvent (Haute-Vienne), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: first half of the 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
What the French Ministry of Culture records
Château connu à partir de 1266, mais complètement reconstruit au début du 17e siècle, en particulier le logis et ses deux tours d'angles. Le plan-masse forme un pentagone à cour centrale, avec un corps de logis en deux ailes formant un angle largement ouvert. Remaniement dans les années 1720-1750. En 1759, galerie neuve desservant les salles du premier étage de l'aile est. Le décor intérieur est en général limité à des trumeaux de cheminée lambrissés, de styles et d'époques variés (du Louis XIII au Napoléon III). Les dépendances du côté sud du château conserve mieux des dispositions originelles : pavillon d'entrée central à petit logement, appuis moulurés des fenêtres, tour d'angle à canonnières ovales caractéristiques des équipements de défense dus aux guerres de la fin du 16e siècle.
