Carrouges castle stands in the Orne department, surrounded by a moat, behind a terrace and old iron gates. Built on a square plan around an inner courtyard, it retains a 15th century keep with even older origins and a 16th century entrance pavilion flanked by turrets. Inside, a brick grand staircase, wood panelling and a painted ceiling reflect the alterations made in the 16th and 17th centuries.
