In Vieux-Pont, in the Orne department, the manor known as Le Désert stands in granite, built at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. Two pavilions project from opposite corners of the building, joined by a corbelled corner turret, while farm outbuildings close off a rectangular courtyard. The site is remembered as a gathering place for Chouan rebels during the French Revolution.
