Standing between Argentan and Sées, the château de Médavy occupies the site of a former Norman stronghold whose history goes back to the Middle Ages, before being largely rebuilt in the early eighteenth century by the Rouxel de Grancey family in a classical style close to Mansart's work. Water-filled moats, two surviving corner towers and a long wing still bear witness to these successive building campaigns. The site suffered a major fire in September 2025, which destroyed much of the buildings.
