At Creully sur Seulles, the château de Brécy preserves a set of seventeenth-century terraced gardens, long attributed to Mansart, ranking among the few surviving examples of this style in France still intact. The carved Louis XIII style gateway opens onto a courtyard flanked by two wings, leading to the main house whose façades overlook parterres, ponds and topiary arranged over four levels. Stone steps lead visitors up to a wrought-iron gate that closes the garden against the sky. The neighbouring Notre-Dame church, reached through a garden door, is part of the visit.
