To make a day of it

Château d'Esquay-sur-Seulles stands in Esquay-sur-Seulles (Calvados), in the Normandie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Built in the early 17th century by the Pierrepont family, the château d'Esquay-sur-Seulles combines two architectural logics: medieval-style defences, a moat, turrets and loopholes, on the garden side, and a symmetrical, almost classical facade on the courtyard side. Arcisse de Caumont ranked it among the best preserved buildings of its style. The estate today sits within an 8-hectare landscaped park, with its outbuildings, gardens and 18th-century pavilions.
