To make a day of it

Château de Bovelles stands in Bovelles (Somme), in the Hauts-de-France region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: second half of the 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Bovelles Castle stands west of Amiens, on land acquired in 1769 by Jean-Baptiste Vaquette de Gribeauval, the first inspector general of artillery under Louis XVI. Built of brick and stone on a sandstone base, it replaced an earlier manor house and keeps a restrained appearance, with a central main block flanked by two slightly projecting wings. The surrounding park is arranged around a central roundabout from which ten avenues radiate, reached through an English-style garden. The castle remains privately owned, so visits are generally limited to viewing it from outside.
