To make a day of it

Château de Beaumont stands in Mordelles (Ille-et-Vilaine), in the Bretagne region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: fourth quarter of the 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Beaumont stands on a medieval castle site whose motte and ditches remain clearly visible in the landscape. The current main building dates from 1686, replacing an earlier structure that had fallen into ruin, and it has kept its original roofline along with an old staircase. The chapel, the earthen banks planted with hedges, and the pond bordering the former outer courtyard together form a site where several centuries overlap.
