What the French Ministry of Culture records

Au 9e siècle : première mention du site. Au 11e siècle : première mention de seigneurs de la Porte qui construisent le château fort d'Yssertieux. Les quatre tours et la courtine qui subsistent datent probablement du 14e siècle. Elles ont été très remaniées en 1424 pour Odast de la Porte. A la fin du 15e siècle, Pierre de la Porte fait construire l'ouvrage d'entrée. Au 16e siècle, Jean V obtient l'autorisation d'établir une chapelle. En 1656, un logis neuf remplace le donjon qui occupait le côté nord. En 1856, deux galeries sont construites à la place des courtines ouest et est, le logis est rehaussé d'un étage et les fenêtres des tours adjacentes modifiées.
