At Céré-la-Ronde, in Touraine, the château de Montpoupon overlooks a wooded valley with its Renaissance gatehouse. The same family, the la Motte Saint-Pierre, has lived there since 1857, and the rooms keep their original furnishings, from the dining room to the private apartments. The visit also includes a hunting museum devoted to hounds and horseback hunting, still practised on the estate today. Visitors can see a round 14th-century tower, a 16th-century gatehouse decorated with pilasters, and a kitchen kept as it was in the 19th century.
