What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château d'Orrouy, édifié au 15e siècle, a subi de très nombreux remaniements au 19e siècle. Les tourelles en encorbellement qui le flanquent ont été fortement remaniées, sous l'influence du style néogothique. Les parements en parties hautes, les allèges des fenêtres ont été fortement repris, ainsi que la plupart des percements. Une aile, ajoutée au 17e siècle en retour d'équerre, a également été repercée. De cet ensemble particulièrement composite ne subsistent d'authentiquement médiéval que les caves. En revanche, l'intérêt historique de l'édifice est renforcé par le fait que le château fut la propriété du comte Doria, grand collectionneur du 19e siècle et ami des impressionnistes ; c'est ainsi que Corot et Manet fréquentèrent les lieux, et que les peintres Cals et Gustave Colin y résidèrent.
