In the commune of Trévol, in the Allier department, the château d'Avrilly stands with its medieval façade along the old national road 7, set within a walled park of one hundred hectares. Built in the 15th century as a fortified residence for the treasurers of the dukes of Bourbon, it was extended in the 19th century, which doubled its floor area. Visitors can still see a keep crowned with machicolations, corner turrets and a ribbed-vaulted north tower, remnants of the original Bourbon-style architecture.
