Argenson castle, in Maillé in the Indre-et-Loire department, forms together with its outbuildings a 17th century ensemble laid out within a large walled enclosure. Around the central main building and its two wings stand a parish church, a presbytery, an arcaded courthouse building, two pavilions and a cylindrical dovecote tower dated 1683. The original plan, which included an eastern wing, was never completed, giving the site an unfinished character that tells its own story.
