To make a day of it

Château de Ports stands in Ports-sur-Vienne (Indre-et-Loire), in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Located in the commune of Ports-sur-Vienne, this rectangular fortified house dating from the 14th and 15th centuries has a history spanning seven centuries, becoming in 1966 the workshop and home of three weavers who rescued it from ruin. Visitors interested in local history will find traces of a succession of lords, from the Barbin family to the Gillier and then the Périon families, along with an engraved stone recording the death of Joachim Gillier in 1535. The building, long neglected after the Revolution, still bears the marks of that decline, with the south wing and surrounding wall having disappeared.
