Château Belair stands in Talence, in the Gironde department, built at the very end of the 18th century on a layout where two low wings flank a deeper main building. Originally a gentleman's residence, it later became the centre of an extensive vineyard estate, which gave it its distinctive slate mansard roof. The whole property, including its boundary wall and two crescent shaped gateways onto Rue Clément-Thomas, remains a notable architectural landmark in Talence today.
