What the French Ministry of Culture records

Cette maison noble appartenait à la famille de Goyheneche dont le représentant le plus célèbre, Bernard, surnommé Matalas, et curé de Moncayolle, conduisit en 1660 la révolte des Souletins, mécontents de leur rattachement au Béarn et à la couronne. A la suite d'une trahison, Matalas fut pris et décapité le 8 novembre 1660. Cette maison a été un peu retouchée vers 1830. Trois murs pignons supportent un toit de tuiles plates à forte pente. Des fenêtres, dont plusieurs à meneaux, sont percées sur trois niveaux. L'accès aux étages se fait par un escalier logé dans une tour rectangulaire située dans l'angle est de l'édifice.
