What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le Chatelier était une défense avancée du château de Frazé. Dévasté pendant la guerre de Cent ans, il a été réédifié vers 1500. L'ensemble est placé sur une haute butte, tranchée de fossés. Les façades ouest et nord sont percées de nombreuses meurtrières. Un logis en longueur, composé d'un rez-de-chaussée, est prolongé par un important pavillon, lui-même flanqué à son angle sud-ouest d'une tour carrée. Côté nord, une autre tour est accolée au milieu du grand pavillon, prolongée d'un petit bâtiment en appentis contre le logis principal. L'ensemble est en brique à décor en losange, et pierre de taille pour les jambages, linteaux et chaines d'angles.
