What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le Bas-Cousse formait un fief relevant de la baronnie de l'Ile-Bouchard. Le logis seigneurial comprend un bâtiment rectangulaire et un pavillon carré épaulé, aux angles sud-ouest, sud-est et nord-est, de contreforts amortis par un petit dôme à hauteur du plancher de l'étage supérieur. Le rez-de-chaussée de ce pavillon est occupé par la chapelle, couverte d'une voûte sur ogives et liernes à moulures prismatiques, réunies par une nervure circulaire concentrique à la clef centrale. Celle-ci et les quatre clés intermédiaires portaient des pendentifs qui ont disparu. Les ogives retombent dans les angles sur des culots décorés d'angelots ou d'animaux fantastiques. Une fuye cylindrique en ruine se dresse à l'ouest de la cour précédant le logis.
