In Allaire, in the Morbihan, the manor of Vau de Quip stands on a quiet site beside a three-hectare pond fed by the Quip stream. Built in the late 15th century for Guillaume de Bogier, a senior official at the ducal court of Brittany, it still has its tower-flanked main dwelling, carved dormer windows bearing coats of arms, a chapel and farm outbuildings, all enclosed within surrounding walls. The property passed through several families by marriage or inheritance and underwent alterations over the centuries, including a rebuilt roof frame in the 18th century.
