Les premières mentions d'une résidence remontent au 14e siècle. Au 19e siècle, l'orientation générale du château change. Ce dernier se compose d'un ensemble de constructions s'étalant du 14e au début du 20e siècle, avec un grand corps de logis abritant les dispositions originelles d'une salle sous charpente du 14e siècle, les extensions du 17e siècle et les modernisations du 18e. Au 19e siècle a été ajouté un très grand pavillon à l'extrémité nord puis, en 1900, les petites constructions à bow-window aménagées par l'architecte Libaudière.
